Ardian acquired the Åndberg wind farm from OX2 in February 2019. The wind farm is now up and running in Härjedalen, Sweden, using the latest in cutting-edge technology to generate green energy for the region.

Åndberg wind farm: Cutting-edge technology delivers sustainable energy milestone in Sweden

Discover Åndberg wind farm, Ardian's latest renewable energy investment in the Nordics

With 53 Nordics N149/5.4MW turbines equipped with anti-icing systems, the wind farm has a total capacity of nearly 300MW and will generate over 800GWh green energy per year, equivalent to the electricity use of 160,000 households or 156kton avoided C02 emissions of fossil electricity generation.

It is a fantastic scenery. We are surrounded by 53 turbines. One of Sweden's largest windfarms. We will bring a lot of new and sustainable energy to the Swedish network. And it is also part of Sweden’s objective to achieve carbon neutrality in the near future.

    Thomas Linnard, Managing Director, eNordic

The project was completed without subsidies, and 100+ workers were employed on site during construction. The opening ceremony was held on October 19, 2022, marking a milestone for Ardian's sustainable energy asset base in the Nordics, which is now at nearly 500MW gross capacity, across Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

Åndberget perfectly fits in our development strategy as it combines a key infrastructure asset that contributes to the energy transition and at the same time provides the opportunity to add value using our in-house digital capabilities.

Ardian has built a state-of-the-art wind farm in Härjedalen, Sweden, using the latest available technology
The 53-turbine project is now taken into commercial operation.

We commissioned the construction in 2019 and finalized the infrastructure in 2021. We started assembling and erecting the turbines in the summer 2021 and completed the project in early spring of 2022.

This equates to the electricity use of 160,000 households or 156kton avoided C02 emissions of fossil electricity generation
The wind farm was built without subsidies and will help improve the energy security of Europeans.

Here at Åndberget, we used the newest high-end technology. We have 53 Nordics N149/5.4MW turbines, which is the latest and most powerful iteration of the N149/5.4 platform. The special feature of these turbines is that they are equipped with anti-icing systems, which means they can operate in icy weather conditions when normal turbines would otherwise shut down. That means we will increase the yield, especially during winter months on this wind farm.

At Ardian, we have a strong focus on investing in renewable energy and are currently managing renewable assets with a total capacity of 7.6GW worldwide. Åndberget perfectly fits in our development strategy as it combines a key infrastructure asset that contributes to the energy transition and at the same time provides the opportunity to add value using our in-house digital capabilities. In addition, the project will also definitely help to improve the energy security situation, which is obviously important in the current context.

100+ workers were employed on site during construction and the project will continue to generate jobs in the area.
The opening ceremony was held on October 19, 2022.

It is fantastic to be here today. I have been working here since 2008. It is a very pleasant moment for me to see the entire site in operation.
